cant cut a wav!

There was some verbage about it supporting wavs - well perhaps it can output to a wav? However, I tried to have it recognize a wav for splitting - the file was grayed out and it wouldnt do it - it will split mp3s it seems - but why would I want to downgrade the quality of my audio file? Disappointed..
